Our work in Bhutan is still in its infancy. It began as a natural outgrowth of the effect our Nepali broadcasts were having on church planting efforts in Nepal. As the church in Nepal grew, those Christians had a burden to share their faith with people living in Bhutan. The governemt of Bhutan has closed the door to Christian missionaries, but they cannot stop people from listening to the radio. The state religion is Mahayana Bhuddism heavily syncretized with Bon, a form of demon worship practiced in the region before the introduction of Bhuddism. In 2008, we began producing and airing an evangelistic radio program in the Dzongkha language to reach almost two and a half million people in Bhutan. The Dzongkha name of our program is 'Lamtoen' which means "Show the True Way."
