2010 Prayer Guide

 1 India

Praise God for the successful launch of our new program in the Kurukh language to reach the Oraon people. Pray for Pastor Anil Bara as he periodically travels from Bihar to Orissa to record messages for the program.

 2 Nigeria

Thank God for the many Muslims being reached through our heart language programs in Nigeria. Pray that even more will have the courage to openly declare their newfound faith.  Ask God to protect these converts from negative repercussions from their families and communities after their decision to embrace Christianity.

 3 North America

Lift up our administrative staff before the Lord as they manage the overall ministry of The Tide and strive to build a solid foundation for long term viability of ministry initiatives. Pray specifically for Don and Becky Shenk in the Chambersburg office and for Ken Hoke working out of his home.

 4 India

Pray for hearts among the Kui speaking people to be receptive to our weekly radio programs in their language and that a growing number of churches may be established within the village communities of this tribal group.

 5 Zimbabwe

Praise God for the door that he has opened for our partner ministry in Zimbabwe, Amagugu Evangeli, to air five minute daily devotionals and a half hour weekly Sunday service on the state owned FM radio network. 

 6 Nepal

Thank God for courageous Christian ministers in Nepal who provide both the content of our Nepali language broadcast and also disciple listeners into Christ followers.  Lift up Mohan Limbu, Mohon Subha, and Kishore Tikhatri as they work together to reach the lost in this Hindu stronghold.

 7 India

Praise God for the safety he has provided for our ministry partners who at times risk their lives and carry out their evangelistic efforts while facing threats from radical Hindu groups.  Ask God to thwart additional anti-Christian uprisings.

 8 Malawi

Pray for Jonathan Lloyd, Gospel Tide Board member as he and his family minister among the Yao people.  May God bless their efforts and give additional insight as they investigate potential opportunities for The Tide to engage in radio ministry to this primarily Muslim people group.

 9 Nigeria

Thank God for Christ Truth Ministries in Nigeria as a reliable partner ministry capable of providing a solid discipleship program for our listeners through their existing national outreach. 

10 India

Ask God to increase the number of listening groups being established through our radio distribution project and pray for the success of church planting efforts to transition these groups into established congregations

11 Zimbabwe

Pray that listeners both within Zimbabwe and in neighboring countries will continue to find spiritual encouragement through our daily Ndebele radio programs. Ask God to restore both political and economic stability throughout southern Africa.

12 Nepal

Ask God to continue giving direction as we expand the number of FM stations our Nepali program can be heard on. Listeners are responding favorably to this transition and are able to tune in our Gospel message more clearly than our traditional short wave broadcasts.

13 Canada

Thank God for the committed support for The Tide mission outreach coming through our partners in Canada. Approximately twenty percent of our airtime expenses for our mission broadcasts is provided annually by individuals and congregations in Canada.

14 India

Pray that our Santali language broadcast will continue to bear much fruit.  Ask the Holy Spirit to anoint Samuel Hembron as he gives leadership to this outreach and also mentors Anil Bara through the process of establishing the Kurukh program.

15 North America

Thank God for the many people who volunteer their time and assets to assist The Tide in various ways. Pray that the next generation will catch the vision to carry on this tradition and that new leadership will step forward for the auxiliary.

16 Malawi

Pray that the government will grant a license for a newly constructed community radio station in Malawi to begin operating.  Pray also for qualified personnel to staff the station and for discernment as The Tide investigates the potential of partnering with other mission organizations to sustain this new outreach.

17 India

Thank God for the wonderful spirit of cooperation between our staff in India and local church workers throughout the regions where we have significant listener response.  This makes it possible for us to conduct numerous effective Seeker’s Conferences that help transition curious listeners into believers.

18 Nigeria

Pray for Alhaji Ishmaeli Rabiu, a former Muslim who converted to Christianity after hearing the truth about Jesus through our radio ministry in Nigeria. He now gives valuable insight and assistance with the production of our Hausa language program.

19 India

Thank God for the very effective Hindi language Gospel messages being provided by George Lucas and John Biswas.  Pray for good health for both of these radio ministers who have been serving The Tide for many years

20 Zimbabwe

Pray for discernment as we respond to the need for Christian programming in additional languages and work to establish cooperative ventures with other Christian broadcasters working in the same region. 

21 Nigeria

Ask God to use our newly established program in the Igbo language to build his Kingdom among this people group of over twenty million of whom less than 15% are Christian.

22 India

Pray for Bijoy Roul as he balances his time between his duties as regional administrator for the BIC church in south Asia and the responsibilities of providing messages and sourcing music for our Oriya language broadcast. 

23 North America

Thank God for the capable and committed individuals who serve on our board of directors. Canada: John & Anne Marie Griffith, Myron Hoover, Matt Laker, and Claude Winger. USA: Ed Asbury, Clifford Hawbaker, Jonathan Lloyd, Lucy Mellinger, John Miller (Chair), Bill Strausbaugh, Lane Thrush, John Walden, David Warren, and Brian Wise.

24 Zimbabwe

Pray that this year we will be able to fully implement the Ndebele language Leadership Training program that has been in development since 2007.  Pray also that we can import portable media players into Zimbabwe for this initiative without excessive red tape or customs charges.

25 India

Thank God for the positive influence of our Ho language program on this remote tribal group of approximately one million primitive people who are mired in traditional animistic beliefs.

26 Nigeria

Pray for Bassey Akpan as he not only produces our Efik language program in southern Nigeria, but also oversees and coordinates the programs we produce in three additional Nigerian languages

27 Zimbabwe

Pray that the city council will approve the blueprints that have been submitted for the construction of a new recording and office facility for Amagugu Evangeli, our partner agency in Zimbabwe.

28 India

Thank God for the speedy provision of temporary quarters for our discipleship ministries in Orissa when a change of ownership necessitated that we vacate the previous rental.  Pray that a suitable long term location can be found.

29 Nigeria

Pray that our new program in Yoruba, the official language of western Nigeria will be effective in introducing Jesus Christ to this largely unreached people group.  Of approximately 30 million Yoruba speakers less than 10% are evangelical Christians.

30 India

Ask God to increase the number of people who open their hearts to Him through our Bengali language program and to bless the efforts of those who work on the ground to disciple listeners.

31 North America

Praise God for using our one minute Global Update radio spots to help broaden our support base.  Pray that an increasing number of stations will air these and even more people will partner with us through prayer and financial support.
